Oral Histories - Tom and Vera Gullatt
Tom
Gullatt was born in 1920 and grew up in the Rico Community of Chattahoochee
Hills, Georgia.
As a young boy he learned the values of hard work, faith, and family from his
devoted parents and his church family at Sardis Baptist Church.
As a young man, he received a calling to ministry, which led him to Japan where
he lived and ministered for 35 years with his wife Mary and children Miriam and
John.
Vera Campbell grew up in Fairburn, GA and took a similar path as Tom. She
attended
Brewton Park College, the same school as Tom, and left for a
mission in Japan on the same date with Tom, even traveling on the same ship.
Very retired in 1993, the year that Tom's wife Mary died. Three years later,
Tom and Vera married and moved back to Fairburn, just outside of Chattahoochee
Hills. Today they continue their spiritual journey as members of Sardis Baptist
Church.
